Box Breath Into Sleep

90% of the population has developed breathing issues due to rapid changes in our diet and environment.  As a result, we're living in background states of continued stress, leading to a myriad of health issues.  Most of us breath rapidly through the chest -- stimulating a continued stress response. The brain can't distinguish life threatening danger from stressful thoughts and our bodies respond to perceived stress increasing inflammation.  Are you holding your breath right now? Are your breaths short and shallow?

By breathing slowly and consciously with your full attention, you are taking control of your autonomic nervous system, moving it into a state of relaxation and away from stress.  We've included a video exercise below with breathing exercises to activate your parasympathetic nervous system, the system involved with our rest and repair operations. This parasympathetic activation and sympathetic suppression induces what has been called the relaxation response that helps put us into a deeply zen state, quieting the mind.

Inward Breathwork has created the perfect video to help you practice your breathing and get into a mindset to help you have a restful sleep.
