LONDON YOUTH FOR CHRIST

At YFC London, we envision a healthy, diverse and safe city where youth have the opportunity to discover their God-given potential. For this reason, we empower youth to identify their individual strengths by addressing the whole person: economic, social, physical and spiritual needs. This is accomplished by providing youth with opportunities for skill development, mentorship, referrals and community spaces for youth to discover this potential. Our Streetlight program supports downtown street-level youth (ages 15-25) through a mobile youth centre outreach. This offers youth with a safe place to gather, connect with community resources and offers the opportunity for life skill development with caring and supportive staff and volunteers. Our Compass basketball program provides high-level training and competitive play for youth (ages 12-18) who would not be able to afford it without significant subsidies. Many youth come from refugee or new immigrant families and/or single parents. Development focus is on Academics, Character and Basketball. Our Hub is an 18,000 square foot community youth centre which provides a safe community space for youth (ages 12-18). After school programs, drop-in, leadership development and life skills programs provide youth with capacity and understanding for navigating life's challenges. Caring staff and volunteers provide support and role models for youth who often do not have these available at home. It also provides a great recreational space for a community that does not have any other resources available for young people.
